Victory Family YMCA
From the portfolio of R. Anderson Moberg, AIA
The Victory Family YMCA, which serves York County, Poquoson and portions of Newport
News, was made possible by a joint effort between Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA and
York County Officials.
This 45,000 s.f. “state-of-the-art” facility includes
a gymnasium, 25-yard 8-lane swimming pool, whirlpool, saunas, an exercise and
aerobics room, fitness room, two racquetball courts, and a 24-foot climbing wall.
Auxiliary spaces include multi-purpose/ meeting rooms, adult locker rooms, youth
locker rooms, a teen center, and administrative spaces.
From the extensive
interior glass walls that open the swimming pool to the rest of the building, to
the dramatically sky-lit climbing wall, this building is filled with imaginative
touches that make it a first-class facility.
