In 2001, Mr. Moberg was asked to design the first phase of the new Northside Christian Church, a thriving community of believers whose previous home had been struck by lightning and was subsequently destroyed by fire. When the time came for the next phase in the growth of the church, James River Architects was selected to design the expansion. The new wing houses classrooms and a large children’s chapel for their dynamic youth program. The addition flows seamlessly from the existing building, matching materials and detailing previously used. EIFS was used as the exterior material around the worship area itself, and recessed accents in the exterior walls recall the windows in the existing building, while maintaining control of exterior light infiltration.
