USS Monitor Center - Mariners' Museum

James River Architects is extremely proud to have provided architectural design services for the new USS Monitor Center for the Mariners’ Museum. We worked with exhibit designers, conservationists, NOAA, and notable historians to create diagrams depicting the anticipated visitor’s experience and resolve complex conservation issues. The project was divided into three primary components, the historic saga, the artifacts gallery and the conservation wing. All of these elements were combined in a single complex open to hundreds of thousands of visitors. Furthermore, as this facility is now one of the nation’s premier naval exhibitions, a new entry concourse with gift shop and café was required to handle increased attendance.
